Administrative Assistant - Mt. Airy, NC

Hours M-F 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Administrative Assistant role encompasses a wide range of tasks within Venture Drive-Away Service, Inc.  The following list of functions is a guide for what is needed at this time.  This could increase or decrease, depending on abilities of candidate and the needs of the Business Manager.  Administrative Assistant must be proficient in multi-tasking, customer service, and computer skills. 

Dispatch Related Functions:

  • Enter Purchase Order data into the Dispatch Log

  • Send Dispatches to drivers via email by transferring data on Dispatch Log to template

  • Call contacts to check on truck availability and pick up instructions

  • Make travel arrangements

  • Keep dispatch log up to date with billing notes and reimbursement amounts for invoicing


General Administrative Functions:

  • Order office supplies

  • Maintain DOT approved Driver Files and online Driver Profiles

  • Record Weekly Tow Vehicle Mileage and AAA usage

  • Send Driver paperwork and logs to drivers, as requested

  • Monitor AAA, IFTA, and plate registration expirations, and order as needed

  • Monthly newsletter creation


Safety Meeting Project Management:

  • Work with Business Manager to create theme and outline for meeting

  • Prepare agenda for meeting

  • Coordinate and plan meeting

  • Oversee all meeting collateral, including printing and promotional items


Recruiting/Orientation Related Functions:

  • Send driver applications to interested candidates

  • Review incoming applications for completeness before turning over to the Business Manager

  • Print all new hire paperwork and prepare Orientation packet and box with supplies

  • Keep a stock of completed Driver Policies and Procedures binders

  • Keep a continuous supply of all items provided for drivers: fire extinguishers, atlases, safety vests, rulers, zip pouches, etc.



  • Intermediate computer skills – Microsoft Office or Google Suite

  • Experience with Microsoft Publisher, WIX website builder, and MailChimp a plus

  • Social Media for Business experience a plus

  • 2+ years experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar position

  • Associates Degree or higher preferred
